Used plastic bottles recycling project in Uzbekistan
At the initial stage of the project Deutsche Kabel AG Taschkent expects to invest up to $15 million in a system to collect and produce of high-strength tape, fibre, yarn and woven fabrics. The project will create over 200 jobs and improve the ecology of the country.
The annual production capacities of the recycling plant will exceed 25,000 tons of plastic bottles. This will allow Uzbekistan to produce products from secondary raw materials valued at $41 million, of which $16 million will be exported overseas.
At present Uzbekistan imports almost 100% of raw materials required to produce PET bottles, which are estimated at 30,000 tons a year, at a value or 31 million euros.
